What is parging and why does a foundation need it?

Parging is a cement-based coating troweled onto the exposed part of a foundation wall to protect it and finish its look. It seals the porous concrete or block against the moisture that Edmonton's freeze-thaw would use to damage it, and gives the base of the house a clean finish. Depend Exteriors installs parging across Edmonton.

Can parging be added to an older home?

Yes. A retrofit parging installation replaces a parge coat that has weathered, cracked, or fallen off over the years, restoring the protection and finish the foundation has lost. Depend Exteriors handles both new-build and retrofit parging installation for residential and commercial foundations across Edmonton.

How is parging installed properly?

By assessing and preparing the substrate, cleaning and patching it, applying a bonding agent so the coat adheres, then troweling on a base and finish coat at the right thickness and curing it properly. Skipping the prep or bonding causes early failure. Depend Exteriors follows each step so the parge coat bonds and lasts in Edmonton.
